Paine Elementary School is a cornerstone of the Trussville community, reflecting a legacy of generosity, growth, and academic excellence.
The school’s name honors Ned and Goldie Paine, founders of the Amerex Corporation and long-time supporters of Trussville education. Their donation of 38 acres of land made the construction of the original school buildings possible, and their commitment to education continues to shape our school's mission. Goldie Paine even contributed framed artwork that still decorates our halls today.
To address overcrowding in the early 2000s, the Trussville area saw the opening of two new schools in 2003: Paine Primary School (serving grades K–2) and Paine Intermediate School (serving grades 3–5). Together, they provided state-of-the-art facilities and served as a model for modern elementary education in Alabama.
In 2005, both schools became part of the newly formed Trussville City Schools district, marking a new chapter of local leadership and focused investment in student success.
As the community continued to grow, it became clear that unifying the two schools would better serve students and families. In 2016, Paine Primary and Paine Intermediate were consolidated into one: Paine Elementary School. A new connecting building was added to seamlessly join the two campuses. This expansion introduced a new main entrance, a larger library, a tornado shelter, and updated administrative offices, all designed with student safety and success in mind.
Today, Paine Elementary is the largest elementary school in Alabama, serving over 1,400 students in grades Pre-K through 5. With two gymnasiums, two cafeterias, and a deeply committed staff, we continue to grow while staying true to the vision of our namesakes—a place where children are inspired to learn, lead, and succeed.
